Audio Visual Services

The Audio Visual Services

The AVS began in 1998 after the replacement of an older sound system in the sanctuary at Dunn's Corners, but its roots come from years of recording sermons for delivery to shut-ins who couldn't make it to worship. That sound system in '98 consisted of a couple mics for our old chancel and a public address amplifier/mixer powering four small speakers. Many people lauded that system as ground-breaking for the church. A step towards today's number one goal of today's AVS; to "Amplify The Word of God" for all to hear. Recordings were still being made on cassette tapes and made available for shut-ins and as keepsakes for loved ones after special services.

In 2004 the sound system was completely replaced with a professional grade setup, designed and installed by UNITECH Sound & Security of CT. The sound system replacement was necessitated by the expansion and doubling in size of the sanctuary that year. The sound system, for the first time, was fully integrated in the building. Hiding cables and speakers in the walls, and rededicating the Choir Loft for the sound cabinet and the AVS.

The current system is often regarded as a marvel in New England Churches. It's control is through a 24 channel mixer from Peavey's Architectural Acoustics line. The amplification comes from amplifiers from Peavey. And a litany of mics and inputs at the chancel help the congregation hear everything. The recordings have moved over to digital with a CD recorder and editing done on computers.
